This is a short range radar site located in the Dewar Lakes on Baffin Island. The radar site is designated by its Dew Line name, FOX-3. In the winter of 1992, I spent nine weeks at this remote site. The only way in and out was by air, usually via Bradley Air (now First Air) or de Havilland Twin Otter. At that time of the year, the sun was very low on the horizon even at noon time. This is why a number of photos below are fairly dark.

All the photos were taken with my Canon T70 camera.

Looking at the 2015 satellite view below and comparing it to my photos, all of the old Dew Line tropo dishes and a number of buildings are gone. The cleanup was completed in 2012 as per this document.

For more info on FOX-3 radar site, see Larry Wilson's page here. There is short write-up on Wikipedia.

I am not sure what this building is but a good guess it's the unused heated vehicle storage building at the airport strip as seen in this satellite picture.   I am not sure what this building is but a good guess it's the unused heated vehicle storage building at the airport strip as seen in this satellite picture.   The two round tropo dishes pointing east to FOX-2.
